The drone and swirl of synths with the chime of guitars, the tick of rhythm boxes, the thud of drums. Liberally applied with more than enough echo, reverb and chorus to make the Cocteau Twins sound like minimalists. Old enough to have surely gotten over this veneer of glossy sound to get with the contemporary grit, but still chasing those seductive, familiar shapes, patterns and pools of sound of old, layered into equal parts paean and lament...
